Well guys, after 12yrs of just me and Hurley, I decided to add a new member to my little family! Meet Kelani! This little butterball is a mix of Great Pyrenees, Labrador Retriever, and German Shepherd. Needless to say, she did not remain a little butterball for long!

I brought my Lani girl home right after cutting the hole in the roof of the van. Adding another member to my little pack took so much thought and consideration. I didn’t want to disturb Hurley’s world too much, but he is getting up there in age and there are things about his behavior and training that I hoped he could share and impart to a new pup.

While Hurley is protective of me, I really wanted a large breed dog with an equally large bark to have along for the ride on my solo female van camping adventures. As this is another “catch up” post, Kelani is now 70lbs of thundering muscle, and she does a very good job of protecting me and Hurley!

My girl turned 2 in March, and she is a…. Cuddly tank! Lani has two speeds. She is either asleep, cuddling up to your side, or she is full speed ahead plowing through the yard with one thing on her mind… catching the ball!

Lani’s favorite things are to swim, chase after her ball and catch it fully airborne, play tug, go on van adventures, me, and Hurley. Seriously, this girl is in LOVE with her brother. Hurley, however, likes to make everyone think he’s still on the fence. Though I catch him trying to be stealthy about giving her kisses from time to time.

I am completely in love with my little pack. They say you don’t get the dog you want, you get the dog you need. I have found that statement to be completely true on both accounts.
